Single tickets

version

A single-use ticket is a ticket for a one-time trip on a suburban train.
One can purchase a paper ticket or have it recorded on a transport card (Troika, Strelka, CEPC, Troika + Strelka).

FARES

You can buy tickets for suburban trains (Express trains included):
  • at the suburban ticket offices situated at railway stations;
  • via ticketing machines;

Surcharge for traveling on an Express:

If a passenger purchases a ticket for a regular train (trains numbered 6000+), but then decides to travel by an Express train with unreserved seats (trains numbered 7000+), then there is an option to make a surcharge payment and change the train category.
  • The surcharge payment can be made at a suburban ticket office not later than one hour after the purchase of the ticket for a regular train or directly on board the train, but in this case a fee (100 rubles) is charged for issuing the ticket on board the train.
  • The amount to be paid as surcharge equals the difference between the fares for a single ticket for an Express and a regular train.
  • If there is a valid pass for a regular suburban train, the surcharge made for a single-use ticket for an Express with unreserved seats (numbered 7000+) amounts to the single-use ticket fare for an Express train. Tickets are issued on board the train in accordance with the rules governing fees for issuing a ticket on board the train.
  • Passengers entitled to discounted fares, and  employees of Russian Railways, are not subject to making the surcharge payment, but have to pay a fee of 100 rubles for issuing the ticket on board the train.

Rules and Conditions

  • A ticket issued for a one-way trip on a suburban train with unreserved seats is valid for one trip on the date indicated on the ticket plus three more hours of the next calendar day.
  • A round-trip ticket is valid, only for one outbound trip, and one inbound trip on the date indicated on the ticket, the next calendar day plus three more hours of the next calendar day.
  • Single-use tickets are issued not more than 10 days before the departure date.
  • If a passenger using a single ticket interrupts a trip on a suburban for reasons dependent upon such passenger, the latter is not entitled to refund for untraveled distance.
  • A single-use ticket (including return ticket) can be recorded on a transport card at any CEPC ticket office, and can be paid for in cash or by a bank card (if a necessary payment device is installed in the ticket office).
  • The ticket can be recorded on the transport card if it has sufficient free space for it, that is, if there is one or no active pass recorded on the card. The conditions of use for this type of single-use ticket are the same as ones for a paper ticket.
